Working with Insurance
For acupuncture treatments only: We are currently in-network with most plans through the following insurance companies*:
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield
- Kaiser
- Moda
*You are responsible for checking with your insurance carrier about your coverage, benefits, and to make sure we are covered as an in-network provider through your plan.
Acupuncture-only treatments do NOT include any additional services. Please scroll down for more information.
Don’t see your insurance listed? You might still be covered.
We can provide you with a super bill to give to your insurance company for out-of-network compensation, so you don’t have to worry about paying for the full cost of treatments.
Most insurance companies in Oregon include at least 12 acupuncture visits per year, so check your benefits and we’ll create a personalized treatment plan that works for you.
Somatic Medicine vs. Stand-alone acupuncture
Insurance companies are strict about the treatments they will compensate. Acupuncture is covered by most plans, but additional services like massage, moxa, cupping, and somatic medicine are not covered.
What does this mean for you?
In stand-alone acupuncture treatments, your practitioner leaves the room to let the needles work their magic.
These treatments are powerful and can lead to great results for many patients with consistent visits.
That said, we find that stand-alone acupuncture treatments are most effective once the nervous system has calmed down, and mental and physical symptoms have subsided in intensity, duration, and frequency.
We’ve observed the best results in our patients when we use somatic medicine and massage therapy alongside acupuncture, especially at the beginning of their treatment plan.
